Get Involved

Community involvement is the key to achieving our goals. Our vision can only be accomplished by building respect and trust between the community and our county agencies – and by making friends instead of enemies. We strive for community involvement and education in any way we can think up that encourage our citizens to take ownership of our shelter and ensure our county’s animals are provided for. We can decrease the intake of animals to our shelter through spay/neuter of companion animals or community-sponsored programs such as responsible pet ownership, pet food banks, veterinary assistance, etc. If you have an idea for a community event, educational opportunity, or promotion of responsible animal practices please contact our event coordinator (events @

Some of our current/future community programs are:

  • Pet of the Week program
  • Bandana Buddies program
  • Church events/partnering
  • Craft events at local daycare facilities
  • Outreach events
  • Partnering with community groups
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the ways its animals are treated. ~Gandhi
